Welcome to the first episode of Design Voices Elevated, a short video series featuring underrepresented design leaders. For quite a while, I've felt that the discourse on design leadership has been dominated by a small and homogeneous group of individuals. With this series, I aim to provide a stage to elevate new voices to join the discourse on design leadership. I engage in the discussion women, non-binary folks, people of colour who are in leadership positions and use design to drive change in their organisations.
The first episode features Venessa Bennett, Global Director of UX at Dye & Durham Corporation. Venessa and I talked about how she articulates the value that her team and design bring to the organisation, how she has been intentional in crafting her design career, how to deal with bad managers, and how to decide to be one.
I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it. After watching it, please leave comments on what resonated with you and your point of view. This is a new series, and I would love to hear your thoughts.
I will publish an episode of Design Voices Elevated every Tuesday for 10 weeks. Make sure you subscribe to be notified about the next episode, and if you can afford it, opt for a paid subscription to join the community and support my work.
Thanks for watching.
